September...October.....

And so it goes.

I really haven't had anything important to write about since I got back from vacation. Not that I haven't been busy. Here's all the news that's fit to print:

Take a guess at which one is my brother.....China seems to be treating him well. He's already got at least one trumpet student, likes the orchestra, and has conned (or been conned) a local student into teaching him Mandarin for a small fee.

At home, the beautiful Kate has been growing and developing her own little personality. This is the only other picture I'll include in this post:

You wouldn't believe how many shots it took to finally get one with her smiling.

I'm still getting used to being a Dad. A lot of it is easy. I don't want to be away from her. Some of it is a little harder, like not being able to just go out to a movie spontaneously. It's all worth every minute of it though. Now, if I can just get used to the idea that a breastfed baby might not poop for several days, I'll be okay. It's nothing to panic about....really......

My MAJOR home improvement tasks are done for the year. My awful pink bathroom is now a lovely shade of green, with new walls, floors, modern fixtures, tile etc. My new drum studio/rehersal space is also about 90% complete. Now all I've got left is Kate's nursery to set up, slate in the entryway, refinishing the hardwood floors....and on and on. I'm glad for home equity. Next year, we focus on the yard.

The Bad Habit finally got back on stage again last night. DC9 isn't my favorite venue, but it was a good, well attended show. I think that a lot of our new material was well-received. I am truly lucky that I play with three people that I really enjoy. We could just make music in the basement of either my house or Phil's and I'd be perfectly happy. It's a bonus to go out and feed some of it to the masses....especially when they seem to enjoy themselves and nothing goes horribly wrong. We even made it through this show without loosing a bandmember to outer space.

No big message and no deep thoughts today. Just the facts.....
